INTRODUCTION

KNB Tapered roller bearing provide several importance and unique performance characteristics enabling them to meet a wide range of application require. Tapered roller bearing consists of four basic components. These are the inner race(cup), the outer race (cone), tapered roller and a cage. Under normal circumstances the inner race, outer race and roller carry the load and the cage helps in retaining or keeping the rollers of equi-distance. The inner race, cage and roller are referred to as "inner race assembly", and this is separable from the outer race. The degree of face ways & rollers are designed in such a manner that they converge at a common point on the axis of rotation. This facilitate the rollers for the true rolling motion on the raceways, at every point along the roller body.

The design of angled of the tapered roller bearing allows the tapered roller bearing to carry combinations of radial and thrust loads. The greater the angle between the outer race and bearing line the greater is the ratio of thrust to radial load capacity (fig-1). Long line roller/race contact gives the tapered roller bearings a high load carrying capacity. 

This and the capability to carry radial loads thrust loads or any combination of the two makes tapered roller bearings the ideal choice for many applications. For a given bore its is possible to select a specially light or heavy section to meet applications load/duty requirements.

BEARING MATERIAL

The tough ductile core material in KNB Bearing enhance their ability to endure heavy shock loads without damage. The material used are strictly of SAE 52100 quality with oxygen control grade, with spherodised annealing. The rollers are made from SAE 52100 of imported materials with precision quality control. Each and every rollers are passed under strict visual inspection along with, individual grouping process, so that, all the rollers in each bearing happens to be of identical length and size, which reduce the chance of play in the bearings.

HEAT TREATMENT

Each individual bearing is subjected to an optimum heat treatment. Generally the hardness of bearing rings and rolling chart defines the standard Heat Treatment Process and its Standard Temprature/Time curve.

This adds up to optimum bearing system performance for virtually any application, together with cost effective design and manufacture of equipment, as well as reduced maintanance and longer life.

PACKAGING AT KNB

After assembling of the bearing it under goes several washing procedure where, it is made free of any contamination any inclusion of atmospheric particles is puissantly washed out, which enables the rotation of a bearing dust free. After this washing process a drying period of around two hours is provided in a dust free chamber and a special coating of rust preventive preservative is applied for prevention of rust during shipment and storage.

On the application of this protective layer the bearing then could stored in its original air tight package for number of years provided the relative humidity of storage does not exceeds 60%. Too often some customer mistakely believes this protective coating as lubricant, but it is not so. You definitely need not wash a bearing prior to installation as this preservative is compatible with almost all lubricants, but must apply lubrication to the bearing prior to installation.
